Our story

from Eishaus to Frosthaus

Not so long ago, our Oma (grandma) and Opa (grandpa) came to America to build a new life. By way of food, our family shared with us some of their most beloved traditions from Germany. When we were old enough, we began to travel to see our relatives every couple years. One of our favorite things to do while in Germany is to visit the Eiscafés. Why? Spaghetti Eis! This combination of ice cream, fruit, and chocolate found the way to our hearts (and was SUPER instagram-worthy). Therefore, we decided to bring this tradition to the US. Eishaus, our ice cream walk-up window, opened in September 2020 and is open seasonally.

THE HAPPIEST DRINKS IN COVINGTON

Shortly after we opened, an opportunity arose for us to expand right next door to Eishaus. In May of 2021, we excitedly expanded our frozen offerings by bringing something new to the area. Frosthaus - a frozen drink bar and restaurant. We work together as a family to create the recipes for our frozen drink machines and haus cocktails. We also revamped some of our old family recipe’s for our food. We are honored to be able to carry on some of the recipes of our family and share them with you!

We love the cov! The food and the drinks brought us here, but it’s the community we feel privileged to be a part of. We hope you feel it as soon as you walk through the doors that, our haus is your haus!

a Penguin named Fritz

We get asked all the time how a Penguin named Fritz ended up in Covington. He tells the story much better, but the tale goes…

Fritz had been working for many months in the Swiss Alps (we know there aren’t penguins in the Alps, but Fritz says there are) and was headed to Mallorca for a little vacation. However, he had too many daiquiris at the airport and got on the wrong flight. (Hey, he’s a penguin, give him a break.)

Landing at CVG confused, Fritz immediately began to search for a beach or body of water. He traveled up I-75, through the cut-in-the-hill and found the Ohio River. With his motto “keep your party portable” in mind, Fritz decided to stay a little while. After all, it looked like everyone else at Roebling Point was having fun.

After a little while, Fritz made Covington his home and decided to be on vacation all the time. After all, it is Paradise at Roebling Point!
